Serrano's 90% Attendance Policy

Since many parents have received a notice that their child did not meet the 90% attendance requirement at Serrano, there is greater interest in what the policy states. Here is the text:

Attention, parents! How kids can earn college credit in High School

Serrano High School has established over 20 articulation agreements with Victor Valley College. Within the past few months your child has been completing the registration for VVC online and completing a step by step process to link there college ID number to Serrano High School. This process is crucial in order for your student to receive the college credit for their particular class. They must pass the class with a “B” or better in order to receive the credit. This program is free to all students at Serrano who are enrolled in these specific Career Technical Education classes that have current agreements with VVC. If you are interested in the list of classes, you can find it on the Career Technical Education Section on Serrano’s website.

Snowline's Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy

Parents/Guardians and Students,

The Snowline Joint Unified School District (SJUSD) has adopted a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy for all schools in the district (the full policy is included with this correspondence). This notification is to inform and guide you through this new opportunity.

As the nature of education changes and more materials are made available in digital form, students are increasingly required to use and to produce materials in digital form. Snowline Joint Unified School District recognizes the learning benefits of using personal devices in school to support students.

This policy will allow students to bring many of their own technology devices to school for use in our classrooms, such as laptops, tablets, and cell phones with browsing capabilities for educational purposes only. The use of personal devices falls under the SJUSD Internet Acceptable Use Policy. As with other personally owned items, the district is not liable for the loss, damage, misuse, or theft of personally owned devices brought to school.

Students and parents/guardians need to complete this agreement for permission to bring a device to school.
